Embark on the Next Wave this month with a true queen and lyrcist named Nesha  Nycee. The St. Louis born artist has created a name for herself across the globe as an  international star, who’s not letting up anytime soon. Read more about her journey and  how she’s creating her path in music.

The Queen is here and her energy is truly infectious. If you have ever seen Nesha  Nycee in action, you know exactly what we mean. The artist was born in St. Louis and  raised in Atlanta, claiming her “St. Lanta” as the perfect blend of her unique upbringing.

This month we share ‘Next Wave’ artists, who gracefully “embark” on their path as  superstars. Nesha would describe herself as “a true queen, who is constantly making  something outta nothing.” She’s unapologetically coloring outside the lines.

“I was created to Create, and I am exactly what art is,” Nesha tells us.

In terms of creating a brand or name for herself, Nesha Nycee allows her energy to do  the talking. She believes that people relate to her “authenticity, consistency and  tenacity.”

I personally met this Queen many moons ago, performing around the city of Atlanta,  constantly supporting artists carving out their own lanes and being a light amongst an  often dark industry. Since then, her community has watched the continuous growth as  she jet sets across the globe with her gifts.

“I’ve been able to evolve by constantly holding myself accountable also by keeping my  creativity as open as possible by exploring different sounds, different collaborations,”  she told us of her evolution. “I’ve been able to evolve by trial-and-error day to day  experiences and by soaking up as much knowledge as possible.”

Nesha credits her energy to be her superpower and the gift that propels her and her art  forward. While there are several artists to listen to in an ever-growing industry, Nesha  realizes that her art is unique and for a community who appreciates it. Still, that doesn’t  mean she hasn’t been discouraged on the journey.

“In a space where music is something everyone does now a days it can get  discouraging no matter what stage of the game you’re at,” Nesha adds. “I just always  stick to what works for me and what I feel like my core audience would enjoy building a  community is really where you win more than ever.”

Nycee recently debuted her latest project Nutritional Facts, which is a Pop album  boasting nine songs. Her singles “Trauma” and “Refreshed” have gained momentum on  streaming, and it’s the first project she’s released since her project M.I.M.O.S.A in 2021.

Her music is meant to educate her community on how to live well and spread love.  Nesha would say that her purpose is to cultivate a long lasting impact whernever and  wherever she shows up.

“Everything about what I’m doing is ethereal and has purpose,” Nesha continued. “I’m  not out here wasting words. I’m being intentional and leaving a lifelong lasting impact  whenever I show up.”

Nesha’s journey started at the tender age of 9 years old. Music became a platform for  her to use her voice, when she didn’t have one. She credits the people around her early  on, who believed in her and ultimately, fueled her to believe in herself.

“Started recording at 12, and began performing at 16,” Nycee told us.

It was at the age of 17 when she got her first shot at an open mic to perform on  Atlanta’s heritage radio station, V103. The rapper performed a battle live on air, and itw  as the first time the world was able to experience her artistry for 9 weeks straight.

Nesha’s influences range from OutKast, The Dungeon Family, Queen Latifah, Eve,  Nicki Minaj, Nipsey Hussle, Missy Elliott, Whitney Houston and so many more.

“Their fearless, bold messages and style is what permeates most for me and it has  always inspired me,” she adds of her inspirations.

Nycee has had several opportunities to embark on her path as a successful artist. From  her battle on V103 to freestyling on Sway in the Morning, the rapper is certainly leaving  her mark.

“Getting the opportunity to interview and freestyle on Sway in the Morning is a childhood  dream of mine that came true,” Nesha reminisces on her major career milestones so  far. “Super blessed and still in disbelief.”

She also credits working with producers Zaytoven and Tasha Catour significant wins  throughout her journey. Nycee landed a placements on popular TV series “Euphoria”  and “P-Valley,” which she also notes as career highlights so far. There are so many  impactful times throughout her career like getting her music video on BET and MTV and  touring international to 7 countires.

“God is amazing,” she adds. “It just honestly makes me want to go harder to top those  last accomplishments. ‘if I did that, I know I can do this’ type of attitude.”

The key for Nesha to continue topping her last win is self-mastery. She believes that in  order to embark on her personal path to success, she must first hone in on each gift  God has bestowed upon her.

“This is a season to really tap in to take it to a level I never imagined,” Nesha declares.  “I see so many things for my myself and my brand. I will travel this entire globe  impacting every soul I meet.”

And, so it shall be. Nesha offers a refreshing take on music, and she believes that it’s  what the game has been missing for so long. She doesn’t use profanity in her music  and fans can still enjoy her songs while turning up at the club.

Nesha’s formula to success is to keep going, keep God first and continue betting on  herself. Yet, the most important key to her future is, “remaining humble.”

She’s most excited to cement her legacy, more major endeavors, continuous personal  growth and building her audience around the world. As for those looking to create their  own wave, Nesha’s advice is simple, “Keep God first.”

“You have to find out what your wave is what that means to you,” Nycee adds.  “Because chasing after someone else’s wave you may drown. You have to learn as  much information about this business as you can. You have to remain a student in this  game and don’t take no for an answer. Make a way when there is none.”
